5/6th Grade Computer Class Projects

• Life Budget:
  Students use online resources to find a job, an apartment, transporation, and a loan. Then they create a monthly budget based on their choices. Project concludes with a slide show presentation.
  • Technologies: web searches, spreadsheets, slide show presentations
    
  • Sessions: 12-15
  • Notes: Students struggled a LOT with the loan portion. May need to find some easier resources for calculating loans, or spend time talking about what loans are and how they work.
  • Files: PDF format • OpenOffice format
• File Sharing Ethics:
  Students research different views on the ethics of sharing music files, then form committees to create a brochure announcing their recommendations to the student body.
  • Technologies: web, word processor, slide show presentations, publishing program
    
  • Sessions: 10-12
  • Notes: The selected readings were too difficult for some students. This project would likely work better as a Jr Hi project.
